This is really low budget in terms of environment, props but worst of all, acting. I'm really not surprised though because which sane person would actually want their name attached to this. There is a move toward fascism (ironically in large part driven by America) and a consequence of fascism is racism (othering) because dammit, poor people have to be fed an enemy other than their corporate overlords. It's such a propaganda piece and so cliched, you'd actually think this made ironically. The random killing of a woman by an immigrant at the beginning - I think a lot of this fiction will fuel the fictional delusions of white supremacists. I'm sure historians will look back at this in years to come the way we look back at Nazi propaganda now and ask 'how did people fall for this?' and sadly it's really quite simple: Poor people (desperation), low-education (no critical thinking) and repetitive messaging (reinforcement). The protagonist is like a Steve-Jobs copy-cat narcissist. The scene where is so inhumanely disinterested in the first victim because he is blinded by his need to avenge her, goes outside and checks the feed for mentions of him. What was funny is that one of the guys said that they need a vigilante like him in Germany. Lol, you had a bunch of fascists thugs, they formed the Nazi party and got defeated by my country after their mass killings of Jews, disabled people etc. What is poignant about this film though in particular and being British, I see this a lot with the far0right and fascists: They're pretty much always men but they're the losers. They're the abusers, divorcees, ones where their kids don't speak to, low-education - they're the men that society forgot and they probably feel useless and emasculated. Suddenly with careful narratives, they enter a delusion where they're wearing a cape and saving 'their women' from migrants - the short of it is - it makes them feel worthwhile. Otherwise Brian who does menial low-paid work and no-one wants to hear from, suddenly no longer feels the privilege of power by simply being white - but invent an enemy and make him the superhero of his delusion and he can be someone worthwhile and no amount of reason or evidence will see him give that up just be boring Brian again. You can tell when these people are lost because they attack you (instead of a reasoned argument), they dismiss evidence, and they get angry when there is a risk that their belief system and the delusional-identity will fall apart - just like a narcissist does. This is why it wouldn't surprise me if this film was written ironically - it echoes back the delusions of racists and the far-right.
