A mostly effective 90s remake horror. Good set design, nice atmosphere, and fun, Slightly over the top, performances. I know I'm in the minority here, but I particularly like Kattan's performance, and Rush is always excellent, hamming it up here. The plot stays reasonably close to the original. The failure is the end. It was a worthy shot, but just doesn't work past where the original plot ended.
House on Haunted Hill
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Hot damn, I love this movie. Amazing actors, beautiful scenery, moving interwoven plotlines, and just adorable.
Madden does a wonderful job of letting his team of extraordinary actors breath and do their thing.
It does an admirable job of showing India in the best light and using its commotion and color to effect.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
The Awful Dr. Orlof
A very early Spanish horror. A little slow paced, and the action switches around the players a bit more than necessary, but very enjoyable and Vernon is always entertaining.
The Awful Dr. Orlof
Catacombs
Some good actors and a fairly straight forward "demon in the monastery" plot. Nothing spectacular, a few strong scenes, and decently watchable.
There is, unfortunately, the omnipresent "monk/priest taking things too far" but he is admirably played by West. Abercrombie gives a nice performance as well.
It isn't "great" but not bad.
Catacombs
Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow
No, it isn't a "good" movie. It is silly, unfocused, and barely has a plot. That said it is a piece of fluff I can keep merrily in my 50s/60s silly horror rotation and I always enjoy it for what it is.

Pumpkinhead
A decent bit of 80s horror. On the plus side are Henrickson and mist of the other "locals". Plus the excellent practice effects. On the minus side is the entire group of "non-locals" or "fodder". The guys were tolerable, but the women were interchangeable and intensely forgettable.
The story isn't bad, even if the plot was straight forward. Direction was competent even though I f some of the locals leaned toward offensively stereotypical. But just minor debits there. Overall, though, it is an enjoyable and rewatchable bit o' spooky.

Don't Go Near the Park
It meanders and loses focus a good bit, and it has that funky 70s pacing, but it has a some originality and some of the performances are pretty good. Can't say much for the direction or cinematography, but it was reasonably watchable.
Don't Go Near the Park
The Devil's Rain
Well now, that's an interesting cast. Unfortunately it doesn't gel. Half of the cast is chewing scenery and the other half is playing straight. It becomes somewhat discordant.
The plot is basically a macguffin fight with only a minor twist or two. The script was full of poor dialogue and nonsense pacing.
There are a couple of effects touches that I liked, but between the acting issues and script, it just doesn't work.
The Devil's Rain
Back to School
A classic comedy. It holds up decently with a few exceptions. While overall it is very enjoyable, the woman are all very poorly written. Some of the comedy wouldn't fly today, but none of it is mean spirited so it goes down alright.
The actor I find most interesting, in a cast with a number of notables in smaller roles, is Gordon. He is pitch perfect here. He has a charm that is unexpected and its a shame he gave up work in front of the camera.

Highlander
Look, there is a lot that is screwy here. Lambert and Connery can not realistically pass for their nationalities. The cinematography could have been better, and the dialogue has a fair amount of cheese. And yet, it is am absolutely classic. The originality of the story and the obvious care put into it make this a genre classic.
Highlander
Big Trouble in Little China
A brilliantly fun adventure. Very original. Russell is a fabulous blend of goober and hero. Entertaining from start to finish.
In a brilliant and inventive career, I think this might be Carpenter's best film. Right up there with The Thing.
Big Trouble in Little China
Murder on the Orient Express
To be honest, this isn't one of my favorite Christie movies, but it is the best version I've seen in TV or film. Branaugh's direction is very strong. The cinematography is gorgeous. And most of the actors comport themselves well.
I know this isn't a particularly popular opinion, but the plot is rather silly in my opinion and it lends to rather tedious and repetitive film.
Murder on the Orient Express
A Haunting in Venice
Swing and a miss. Branaugh tried something and it didn't land, can't blame him too much there. His Poirot continues to be decent enough, but the mangling of the source material just didn't take.
Taking Christie stories and turning them into tourist movies is almost a tradition at this point, so moving Hallowe'en Party to Venice isn't a surprise, but it is the sort of thing that's always irked me. It is a lovely setting, but for a different movie.
Then, of course, there is the complete change in tone. Again, it could be interesting, but not for this story.
The one thing I will call out as a highlight was Jamie Dornan. I was very pleasantly surprised with his work.
A Haunting in Venice
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Hey, look! It is a multiverse movie that works all of the way through! Significantly better than Far From Home. Every other Multiverse movie has been chock-full of fan service that is tacked on. This film had that, but it actually used it and built a story around it.
Holland's version of of Spider-Man continues to work well. Zendaya keeps improving in the role. Some of the villains clicked quite well.
Liked it quite a bit.
