Gillian Anderson portrayed Dana Scully phenomenally. She is smart, independent, and self-sufficient, a woman who needs no man to do things for her, while also showing a gentle, compassionate side toward her partner and the people around her. This character created the famous "Scully Effect," inspiring countless girls and young women, including myself, to pursue medicine and many other serious professions. This series is timeless. No matter your age or generation, everyone should watch The X-Files at least once. I tuned in every week to see what bizarre, horrifying, or awe-inspiring mystery they would confront next—creatures, mutants, ghosts, aliens, conspiracies, you name it. The show’s broader mythos unfolded slowly, pulling viewers deeper into its web of secrets. But more than anything, The X-Files taught me to question what I’m told, look deeper, and seek answers for myself. Few series manage such longevity and cultural impact. The X-Files absolutely earned its place among the greats.

Great writing, whitty dialogue and two all-too watchable characters keep this series moving through a long, complicated series arc, with occasional yet completely enjoyable “Monster of the Week” episodes. Yes, it’s dated and firmly entrenched in the 1990s, where cell phones were still primitive, but the series launched a distrust of government and institutions that still resonates today.
