Sherlock Holmes je snad známý nám všem díky příběhům sira Arthura Conana Doyla. Ovšem tato britská série jej ukazuje ve zcela jiné době, konkrétně ve 21. století. Holmes je zde detektivním konzultantem místní policie, kde pomáhá řešit ty nejzapeklitější případy, na které jsou obyčejní vyšetřovatelé krátcí. Pomáhá mu při tom doktor John Watson, bývalý armádní lékař, kterému chybí vzrušení poznané ve válce. A i když mu někdy neskonale leze na nervy, tak spolu tvoří nerozlučné duo, které si získalo srdce mnohých fanoušků po celém světě.

As with all TV series, some episodes are better than others in my opinion, but overall it is a brilliant series, the highlight of which is, without doubt, "The Reichenbach Fall", the final episode in Series 3. To start with, I was a bit confused with the three-episode-per-series format, each of which is 1 hour and 30 minutes as opposed to 45 minutes in other shows like Doctor Who, but I soon adjusted and I actually like the format immensely as each episode is like a little movie, and has much more time to develop the plot in than an ordinary series. In conclusion, I think that Steven Moffat has done an excellent job reviving a classic series of novels and short stories and modernising them with powerful actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
