This daytime series, set in a large house converted into bedsits, had two phases: one of self-contained small dramas, each concerning the lives of a few residents and their friends, family or colleagues; and a later one - with different characters - made up of a continual string of episodes, soap-opera style, depicting the residents as a whole.

After answering the telephone the landlady finds out that Miss Peebles is actually Mrs Wilby, who arranges a date with a mysterious friend. - Sarah

Sarah decides to host an intimate New Year's Eve dinner party for her divorced friend Lynn and the mysteriously evasive Robert in the hope she can play matchmaker but events begin to turn sour and the evening doesn't quite turn out the way she'd hoped it would, eventually leaving Sarah on her own at the stroke of midnight on the new year. - Reg: Part 2
D27Reg: Part 2Helen is eager for Ted to get a job and helps him look through the classifieds in the local newspaper. Ted continues to have problems with his obnoxious and selfish young neighbour Pete and is becoming increasingly hostile towards him, especially after a tasteless funeral prank. When Pete hosts a particularly loud party, Reg is driven to despair by the noise and decides to give him a piece of his mind.
