Na základě oprávněného podezření z chystaného atentátu policie prohlíží budovu a v osvětlovací kabině nachází stopy po tom, že se v ní někdo skrýval a připravoval k akci odstřelovač. Něco ho ale zřejmě vyrušilo, takže změnil stanoviště. Navíc je nad jevištěm objevena zavěšená mrtvola údržbáře – vypadá to, že jeho vrah právě atentátníka vyrušil. Hledaný pachatel vrší kolem těl svých obětí panenky s vyvrtanýma očima a soudní psycholožka Samantha z toho vyvozuje, že jim chce sdělit nějaké poselství, které pravděpodobně souvisí s jeho vztahem k ženám nebo k jedné konkrétní ženě. Brzy se objeví další oběť, psychiatr Valentin. Sam zatím není jasné, co má společného senátor, který je potenciální obětí šíleného vraha, s předešlými zavražděnými. Sam se znepokojením zjišťuje, že většina jeho obětí je nějakým způsobem spojena s její osobou. Zanedlouho se Jackovi podaří proniknout až do hlavní budovy VCTF, kde zanechá pro Sam krvavý vzkaz na jejím autě... Sam je tím velmi rozrušena a spěchá domů za Chloe.
