- synthete21. července 2026Half of the show is compelling, and half is a travesty. The visuals are stellar in most of it (the made-up parts). The casting for Hari, Gaal, and Cleon is fantastic... which is what makes it so disappointing what they did with the actual Foundation half of the story. It is utter nonsense and ruins rewarding payoffs later in the series, for absolutely no impact in the show. And that's a pity, because the character writing in the books was rather bland for most of them, but the concepts were fascinating, so a proper adaptation is something that could have filled an actual need if the writers had any scruples whatsoever when it came to tackling high concept SF. The 'genetic dynasty' was not in the novels, so it qualifies as literal fan-fiction--but I don't mean that as an insult. After the decent introduction with Hari and Gaal, the Cleons are the only good part of the show, because that part was adapted into what is essentially original characters. The problem is that outside of that, the treatment of the characters of the actual Terminus, Gaal-Hari sections, and Fortnight 'Salvor Hardin' consists of utter nonsense plotting with incompetent science fiction writing and outright character assassination. It's like they actually set out to make a total inversion of what the characters and the concepts represent. Just as an example for those not in the know: Salvor Hardin was supposed to be a diplomatic negotiator. The entire point of his character and The Foundation was soft power despite being in a powerless and precarious position. Their power was knowledge (a bunch of geeks called The Encyclopedists), and Hardin diverged from everyone in his highly cerebral and socially adept brokering of peace between would-be invaders and warring kingdoms. What is the character in the show? A wet-behind-the-ears Fortnight character who picks up a gun in her first scene, and in just about every following scene, and is an absolute tool. They also have her destroy (an excellently rendered) point-defense battleship railgun with a bow and arrow. I am not joking. That's par for the course for every single scene in the Terminus half of the show.
- Octothorn16. března 2026Enjoyed it for the first season and a bit. I thought it was going somewhere, and I guess it is, but I don't really feel like it's worth my time and effort. Pacing, suspension of disbelief, too many timelines, characters, factions, politics.. it goes on. Keeping track feels like a job sometimes.

This is NOT Issac Asimov’s “Foundation.” The only thing that resembles Asimov’s creation are the characters' names. Period. If you enjoyed the books, you will be disappointed. If you like gee wiz special effects, you will be overjoyed.

- Vincent Clarke22. prosince 2025Harder sci-if with terrific lore that’s heavily inspired by one of the greatest authors of all time. Some are disappointed that it’s not Asimov verbatim, but I’m glad it’s not. I know the books well and love them and the TV show does a terrific job of adapting key elements but staying interesting for today’s audience. And undoubtedly it will get new readers of the source material, so win-win.

- alextc29. srpna 2025This is an art fest. Every frame of this show is simply amazing. The atention to detail is unmatched by anything else I ever seen on "TV" and I watched thousands of episodes. I enjoy every second of this. The story is also constant but unpredictable. I can't ask for more. Bravo!

The storyline and dialogue feel respectful of Asimov’s ideas, capturing the intellectual weight of psychohistory while injecting emotional depth suited for modern television. The use of CGI and practical effects is superb—everything from starships to planetary vistas blends seamlessly into beautifully crafted environments. The worldbuilding is particularly impressive given the narrative’s time jumps, which are handled with clarity and elegance, keeping the story coherent while honoring the scope of the source material. The cast is outstanding, embodying their characters with conviction and nuance that make this vast universe feel human and grounded. With so many books in the Foundation series and such high-quality execution, I look forward to every future season.

- David Abdallah16. listopadu 2025I guess I just don't get it. I gave it two episodes, but it is just so dang boring. I can't dedicate the time into a series that isn't entertaining. 1 star because it's visually fantastic otherwise it would be 0.
- Dario P.25. září 2025Judged based on the books this is 1/5 stars. It's a horrible adaptation from that point of view. But the series created section about the clone dynasty and the actors they chose for Empire, absolutely amazing. They should have created a series as a homage to Foundation not claim it's related. The actual Foundation parts are kinda terrible although they get less bad over time but never the parts I'm looking forward to.
