  • Costa Rica, l'atout nature
    D24
Costa Rica, l'atout natureThere are so many interesting things in Costa Rica: first of all the peninsula of Nicoya where there are many 100 years old men and women: Don Pachito is riding his horse every day for three hours to visit his friends in other villages: Jorge Vindas, a doctor explains this longevity because of the family ties, the friendship with people of the village, the healthy food and the joy of living.About tourism, entrepreneurs try to innovate: in Rio Perdido the tourists can discover the forest and take baths in hot water sources and they have a moment of yoga every day.Near Santa Cruz the tourists are invited to harvest vegetables in a garden and to prepare these vegetables: so they enjoy fresh organic food.Later we visit an animal rescue center where a Peruvian veterinary and volunteers take care of abandoned sloths and monkeys. At the seaside the Verdiazul Association takes care for the breeding of the sea turtles (collecting the eggs and later sending the young sea turtles to the sea).Costa Rica has great forest area: an important biodiversity of trees and about 25.000 persons are living from the wood industry (souvenirs, furniture, etc). Now some words about the journey of Tiga: beginning of the journey in San José : visit with Carla Quesada of the historical center and of a market (avocado, cas or Costa Rican guava, soursop, achiote). In the peninsula of Osa, Tiga meets Eduardo Valverde Chaves, a professional guide: they will take a boat and follow the Sierpe River through the mangrove, The Corcovado National Park has been founded in 1975 to protect the biodiversity of the area; mantled howler-monkeys, spider monkeys, agoutis, toucans and crocodiles. Then Tiga travels to Turrialba: there she meets Marie-Anaïs Beuchet, who manages with her husband an estate with coffee plantations and also sugar cane plantations: they have a ride on horse through the fields, later they taste fresh coffee and enjoy a moment of canyoning. Then Tiga travels to Manzanillo; she meets at the seaside Ricardo Barthley Martin, a restaurant owner of Jamaican origin, they buy lobsters and fishes (with grated coconut) and then a meeting of friends and dancing together calypso music. I forget the north-west area of Costa Rica: a zone of cattle breeding: there the "sabaneros" or cowboys are in charge of taking care for the cattle: but on Sundays they enjoy to participate in "las carreras de cintas a caballo": rings are hung from a wire suspended between two posts and each rider must catch the ring: a very traditional and popular feast in Costa Rica.
