Johanna Lohmann, a single, widowed Munich doctor, takes over her deceased uncle's rural medical practice in Großraming, Austria. Her aunt Marie supports her. She meets and falls in love with veterinarian Laurenz Hofer. However, years later, their relationship falls apart, and she begins a relationship with equestrian center owner Daniel Winterberg. Each episode features a self-contained storyline with episodic characters: a story about the Bergmeier/Straußberger farming family, and one featuring the rural doctor and her family.
