William Shatner plays two roles: cowboy Johnny Moon and his ruthless Indian twin brother, Notah. Notah likes peyote and gets the crazy idea that he's the Comanche messiah sent to lead the Comanche nation against the white man but more specifically the dusty desert town of Rio Hondo. Moon, estranged from his brother, decides to stop Notah either by words or by bullets.

Shatner in a duel role where he plays a convincing cowboy and a totally unconvincing Comanche. Shatner doesn’t even bother to try and look like a native American with the same haircut as his brother causing folks to confuse the pair which is frustrating to watch because all he had to say was he has a twin that’s bad. Shatner spends half the movie with his shirt off and all the time in tight jeans.
