It’s slow, strange, and abstract—and that’s exactly what makes it so powerful. Scarlett Johansson delivers one of the most haunting performances of her career. As an alien figure navigating through Scotland in a stolen human form, she embodies both seduction and emptiness. Her gaze—curious, cold, occasionally questioning—anchors the film’s emotional ambiguity. She is often silent, sometimes almost passive, and yet you can’t take your eyes off her. Her portrayal is brave, enigmatic, and deeply effective. Glazer’s directing style leans into minimalism and ambiguity. Much of the film unfolds like a documentary, with naturalistic scenes shot guerilla-style, blending real people with actors, and giving the film a raw authenticity. What on earth was that ? Confusing, empty, painfully pretentious. The only redeeming moment was seeing Scarlett Johansson naked… and even that wasn’t enough to save it. End of story.

And admittedly I watched it out of curiosity for certain ScarJo…. reasons…. Shame on me that I wanted some context. This feels like a movie that has or should have won some artsy type awards.
- jackmeat3. ledna 2025My quick rating - 6.3/10. This will be the definition of love it or hate it. Many will be pushed off by the lack of speaking and narrative. The movie expects you to put the story together based on what you see. Keep in mind, that film is a visual medium, so it doesn't have to be explosions and jump scares. Watching the main "character" piece together what she is and realize things for the first time is very well done, and in a way, creepy at times. Scarlett Johansson turns in a really good performance since nearly everything has to be told via expression. Surely not a horror movie but blame Plex for classification. Still, a good movie that could've used a bit more action going on to turn it up a notch, for me. I wouldn't argue with anyone putting this over 7, but I can see many who will dislike it greatly. Depends on the type of movie viewer you are.
