- Amouse2124. června 2026Honestly, I don't think the movie title and seemingly heavy handedness of the marketing and PG rating do this movie "just us" [justice]. If you can get past the initial expectation that this movie is ONLY for kids and will play down to the audience with physical humor and low brow plots, you will find a broad audience charming movie about some deeper topics than the movie lets on at a first glance. Even the title I think is misleading and would prefer something closer to the novel's "Three bags full" title instead. They aren't a sheep detective outfit, this isn't a movie only kids can enjoy, and more akin to something like great movies that marketed themselves a little better like "Babe - A little pig goes a long way" (on the movie poster) and "Rudy". The movie doesnt talk down to children about topics like death, feeling alone, societal bullying, wealth, the meaning of life, harsh stereotyping, criminal murder, etc; but at the same time doesn't try to hit you over the head with "The Message" of some overzealous activist. The story and moral is real and not ignorant of the fact that some life lessons are timeless and deserve to be told from any perspective, even sheep. If you don't look deep enough, you miss that unlike a lot of movie slop nowadays, this story has quite a few characters that grow through the story and have their own journeys and lessons they learn. It is a family movie, but it is also a human movie, and we need more human movies about the nature of things all humans struggle with and how we all fit together. Well done to the cast and crew and for the producers of this movie to get something done with some respect that it deserves. The audience reactions are very telling that we need more of this.

- rg9400před 4 dnySheep Detectives is a cute movie that is also fairly predictable. I think the mystery and culprit are not extremely unique or complex, and the cast of suspects is very limited and barebones. In fact, even the howdunit and murder itself are fairly simplistic, and the way the clues are pieced together elementary. Given all of that, I still found myself enjoying The Sheep Detectives a lot more than the glut of cozy murder mysteries that have become popularized since Knives Out. I think a large part of that is due to the fact that the main cast are all sheep. I wonder if I would have enjoyed this movie if they were humans, even with no other changes to the plot. There are lots of other murder mysteries where the detectives have some unique quirks or zany personalities. Yet, because they are sheep, the movie is able to give each of them more heart than your typical cardboard cutout murder mystery character. It helps that they are all voiced by a star-studded cast. I found myself being able to identify and distinguish each sheep and understanding their character conflicts independent of the murder. The movie itself has a very heartwarming message that is amplified by these creatures and their struggles. Even though I think the movie's mystery is a letdown, I still enjoyed my time with it because it has such a life-affirming message and such an adorable cast.
