I’ll give it a bit of slack for being based on a true story and it was also nice seeing Jude Law play this kind of role. The movie did a good job depicting the domestic terrorism of white supremacy. But I’ve seen this kind of movie so many times before, it really does nothing new.

- 0 124. prosince 2025It's a decent film (5.5-6). but The Order feels like a missed opportunity.The script was underdeveloped with no memorable dialogue. Nicholas Hoult largely carries the movie. It also never works as a thriller because of the lack of investigation, mystery, fear in the script and cinematography. You know what's going to happen before it unfolds. It’s worth noting that the actual 1984 FBI HRT raid on The Order’s leader, Robert Matthews, resulted in no SWAT officers being injured or killed. And Jude Law's character which was based on FBI agent Wayne Manis, didn't have a heart problem. The symbolism of not killing the moose in the last scene is lost because I'm bored at that point. The Dancer Upstairs (2002) is also a political thriller but is a far stronger film: better script, stronger performances, more compelling action sequences, and greater historical accuracy, More fear and investigation.

- dannyol435. února 2025Justin Kurzel nails it every time! Two of the best performances of 2024. Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult got overlooked big time for this. You know the whole time what the ending is going to be, but your eyes are glued to the screen regardless. Also, this really makes me want to visit the PNW.

- d-harv23. ledna 2025Great potential, but at the end there was a message about domestic terrorism that used the January 6th protests and the Oklahoma bombing in the same context. Whoever decided to add this message at the end had propagandist intent. There is no comparison between these two events. These same people who still call January 6th domestic terrorism will tell you the people who tried to burn down court houses and tore down statues were just peaceful protesters.

- Kevin Ward1. července 2025As far as true crime thrillers go, this was well done. The heists and robberies are really well constructed and the cast is excellent up and down the call sheet. Hoult is probably the standout performer as an off-shoot neo-nazi leader, Bob Matthews, in the PNW who’s building a revolution with the guidance provided in The Turner Diaries, the “handbook for white victory.” On his tail is seasoned FBI agent Terry Husk (Jude Law) with help from a local deputy, Jamie Bowden (Tye Sheridan). Though, I enjoyed the film quite a bit, I have to say, this film doesn’t really feel as anti-neo-nazi, as I would have liked. The FBI is borderline incompetent and not given much characterization, while Matthews is given a rousing speech where he professes the things they stand for. Intended or not, I came away feeling like it could be a low key recruitment piece. Like in a….” if you recently had your job taken away, you’re fed up with government, and sympathize with Timothy McVeigh and/or the J6ers….I’ve got a book that you need to read” kinda way. I guess in a way this film is similar to Justin Kurzel’s Nitram which I also really liked, but depicts the days leading up to an infamous true life mass murder, and follows the perpetrator of the crime providing a glimpse into his psyche a somewhat sympathetic lens. To be fair, I think the Marc Maron messages as radio host Alan Berg does provide a voice for tolerance, even if that voice is silenced part-way through for…[redacted]. I can’t deny that I enjoyed the watch, though.
