A marriage proposal from the Kishu family comes up for Kikuji (Komura Hiro), but her brother, Sawatari Shusui (Kitaoji Kinya), declines it. At that time, the lord of the Kishu family had died under suspicious circumstances. Shusui decides to set out on a journey to clear up the family turmoil in the Kishu domain.
