While, similar in tone, the pop culture references are deeper cuts this time around as it is set in 1934; e.g. there's a great scene where the lead character of Jay Sherman (played here, subtlety and nuanced, by Sir Ian McKellen) dunks on some old bitch for, not only, a nervous Spoonerism, but also not knowing the difference between Jacobean and Elizbethean time periods! 🔥🔥🔥🥊🥊 Lol probably just for the trailer but gold is gold. Stay tuned for the post-credts scene where Sir Ian McKellen points at the camera and says "It Stinks!"
