Banderas is very good in the main role but where the movie really shines is with the King "Buliwyf" who leads the 13 to fight an ancient evil in a faraway land. This is a no frills movie that takes place in a very believable setting but what it lacks for story development and character development it makes up for with the stuff of legend and the heroes who lived it. If you don't watch it with the expectation of a big budget cgi action movie you'll enjoy it. It's easily a lot better than it tends to be displayed. To this day after seeing this at the theater I can't help but smile when I think of "Buliwyf" and a heroic orchestra playing a stirring majestic music for him as he fights overwhelming odds in a hopeless cause.
- Gabriel6. září 2025Critically panned when released and it shows. The set pieces, action scenes, and the attention to detail is the high point. This movie could've benefitted from being about 45 minutes longer. The ending came way to fast. It didn't give you a chance to really care about the characters at all. While he isn't credited as being a director, but Michael Crichton directed the reshoots, and it's based off of one of his stories.
