Landscape architect Marc Norderstedt's comfortable life is shaken when he not only forgives driver Jil Grüngras for nearly knocked him off badly, but has a hot night with her, which turns into an affair. Her family forms a liberal Jewish clan with the Rosenbergs, who keep bugging her to get married.
