Režie: Brian De PalmaV květnu 1980 otevřel Fidel Castro kubánský přístav Mariel s jasným záměrem nechat některé občany odjet za příbuznými do USA. Do sedmdesáti dvou hodin bylo 3000 amerických lodí na cestě na Kubu. Brzy se ukázalo, že Castro přinutil majitele lodí, aby odvezli nejen příbuzné, ale i nejhorší kubánské vězně. Mezi 125 000 uprchlíky, kteří se vylodili na Floridě, bylo 25 000 trestanců. A jedním z nich byl i kubánský politický vězeň Tony Montana. Tony ale hned po příjezdu skončí ve vězení, kde dostane nabídku: zabije komunistu a drogová mafie ho dostane ven i s jeho parťákem. Tony Montana se velmi rychle adaptuje v nových podmínkách svobodného světa. Se svým přítelem Mannym vykonávají příležitostné práce v místním podsvětí a při jedné předávce drog skončí v jejich rukou ukradené peníze, za něž Montana vybuduje vlastní drogové impérium. S mocí a bohatstvím ovšem roste i jeho ego a především paranoia, že jej o jeho výdobytky připraví někdo stejným způsobem, jako to udělal on.

You don’t watch Scarface — you absorb it through cultural osmosis, rap lyrics, GTA Vice City missions, and Michael Bolton ballads you weren’t emotionally prepared for. Tony Montana didn’t climb to the top — he snorted the damn mountain, slapped fate in the face, and dared you to look away. He wasn’t a hero. He was a cockroach — self-declared. And that’s why the real ones never let him go. You think it’s overdone until you hear “The World Is Yours” and get goosebumps. You think it’s dated until Cartman yells the same lines with KFC chicken grease on his face. You think it’s too much — then remember half of modern cinema, rap, and video games took notes and built their empires on Tony’s ashes. This movie raised a generation of keyboard gangsters, mixtape moguls, and yes — roach disciples. And me? I’m not immune. 5 stars. No regrets. Mic drop — onto a mirrored table.

- รҡ૨אρƭเ∂16. října 2024Thee Greatest crime drama ever filmed in the English language bar none. Pacino delivers his greatest performance among his high quality catalog. This method acting masterpiece is so uncanny you will believe Pacino was actually Tony Montana in a previous life. The lead performance, in all obvious hindsight, should of course have carried an Oscar nomination and so should the film itself. Neither recieved one. Instead 4/5 movies in both categories are unrecognizable today. Proof that Hollywood is currently and always has been full of 💩. 9.8/10⭐
