Barbar Ronal je mladý muž s nízkým sebevědomím. Je opakem všech svalovců a je to slaboch. Musí však převzít odpovědnost za osud svého kmene. Zlý pán Volcatar pořádá nájezdy na vesnici a unáší postupně všechny její obyvatele. Až na Ronala. Ten je nakonec nucen vydat se na dobrodružnou cestu, aby zachránil celou svou osadu. K výpravě se také přidávají další osoby. Alibert, Zandra nebo Elric. Všichni se pak snaží vyřešit vzniklé problémy a zachránit vesničany.

- johnr33923. prosince 2025Ronal the Barbarian is what happens when a creative meeting goes wildly off the rails and no one has the authority—or courage—to say, “Maybe we shouldn’t.” You can practically hear the pitch room conversation echoing through the film: “Okay, we’ve got this fun idea for a kids’ movie about barbarians.” “Great! Let’s make it sexy.” “But… it’s for kids?” “Yeah. Adult kids.” And that’s the movie. Ronal the Barbarian desperately wants to be edgy, but instead it just feels awkward—like it snuck into an R-rated party wearing a cartoon helmet and never figured out what to do once it got there. The humor aims for irreverent and lands squarely in uncomfortable. Jokes linger too long. Sexual references feel forced. And rather than feeling clever or subversive, the whole thing plays like a middle-school notebook doodle brought to life with a budget. It tries to be sexy and fails. It tries to be funny and fails. It tries to be adult and somehow circles all the way back around to juvenile—but not in a fun, playful way. More in a “why did you think this was a good idea?” way. The tone is so confused that it never knows who it’s talking to, which means it ends up talking to no one. The animation is competent enough, but it’s wasted on a story that can’t decide whether it wants to parody barbarian tropes, revel in them, or just leer at them. Satire requires intention. This feels more like a dare. In the end, Ronal the Barbarian isn’t offensive so much as baffling. It’s not shocking, it’s not bold, and it’s certainly not clever. It’s just… weird. Not “cult classic” weird. Not “so bad it’s good” weird. Just “someone approved this” weird. A kids’ movie that isn’t for kids. An adult movie that isn’t very adult. And proof that tone is not optional—even in animation.
- Richard5. října 2025This one caught me off guard, in the best way. I went in expecting dumb laughs and crude animation, but it turned out to be way more clever and weirdly charming than I thought. Ronal’s not your typical hero. He’s scrawny, awkward, and completely out of place in a world full of muscle-bound meatheads. But that’s what makes it work. The movie leans hard into parody, Conan-style fantasy tropes, over-the-top villains, ridiculous quests and somehow still manages to have heart. You actually root for the guy, even when he’s fumbling through sword fights or getting dragged into absurd situations. The humor’s sharp. It’s juvenile at times, sure, but it’s self-aware. The characters know they’re in a ridiculous world and they play it up without turning it into a total farce. What stuck with me most was how it balanced the absurd with the sincere. Ronal’s journey isn’t just about saving his tribe, it’s about proving he’s more than what people expect. It’s not for the younger kids, but if you grew up on fantasy flicks and have a soft spot for animated chaos with a bit of heart, this one’s worth the ride. Silly, smart and surprisingly sweet.
- jackmeat9. června 2025My quick rating - 6.7/10. Very fun little adult animated flick. Humor wise, nothing gory or nudity involved. Seems the dubbed version works just fine and doesn't lose anything in translation (I gave it a 6.6/10 7 years ago and that was with subtitles).
