Every year, hundreds of thousands of people leave their home behind and set out across the Mediterranean for Europe. Meri meidän välissä (A Sea Between Us) gives voice to four immigrants staying in Italy, France and Finland. Through their stories, the film explores migration to Europe. Lamin, Berivan, Mohamed and Eric share their dreams as well as the reasons and consequences of their mobility, and show us their life in Europe. They also reflect on migration and Europe's hardening refugee policies on a more general level. The documentary also portrays the crew of a rescue ship during their nightly mission on the Mediterranean and how a Gambian group of men is desperately looking for access to Europe in Libya.
