- Darren Webster20. března 2025Talk about totally missing the mark. Kraven, is a villain. He's not a hero. He's not an anti-hero. He's a villain. I mean this is a guy that hunts super heroes for sport. He's like the human form of a Predator, but without all the crazy fancy tech and scary mouths. So knowing that, why anyone would think making a movie about a villain was a good idea leaves me scratching my head. It feels like such a waste of a character. I'd much rather seem Kraven go up against Spidey vs a bunch of lesser bad guys. It's like someone said "hey we need a back story for this bad guy so let's make a movie about him" when in reality, it's a bad guy, you can explain his back story in 10 minutes or less when you introduce him as the villain in the next Spidey or Avengers movie. If you stop thinking about the fact that Kraven is a super villain from the Marvel comics universe and treat the movie as just an action movie, it's actually not bad. Maybe that was what Sony was hoping would happen here, bunch of people that have no idea who Kraven is watching this and not knowing that he's one of Spider-Man's biggest enemies. This is just more Hollywood slop. It's a "comic book" movie that's just not even worth being made. If you are bored and just need some dumb action, well, maybe this will check the boxes for you, but if you are a fan of comic books, what can I say other than: prepare to be really annoyed.

There are flashes where you think it might finally do something cool, and then it just backs off again. Visually it’s fine, nothing embarrassing, but also nothing that sticks. Same goes for the acting—everyone feels a bit disconnected, like they’re in slightly different movies. And the overall vibe? Weirdly dull for something that’s clearly trying to feel intense. It’s not painful to watch, just hard to care about while you’re watching it.

Sony’s introduction for Kraven takes a stab at reimagining one of Spider-Man’s iconic foes, delivering an R-rated origin story steeped in blood-soaked vengeance. While Aaron Taylor-Johnson gives it his all as the titular antihero, the film struggles to rise above its predictable script, overused tropes, and uneven performances. The movie focuses on Sergei Kravinoff (Taylor-Johnson) and his tumultuous relationship with his ruthless gangster father, Nikolai (Russell Crowe). Their strained dynamic sets the stage for Sergei’s transformation into a brutal predator, driven to become the world’s greatest and most feared hunter. Unfortunately, while the premise has potential, the execution falls flat. The story is bogged down by clichés, leaving little room for meaningful character development or engaging twists. It’s a paint-by-numbers origin tale that never strays far from what the trailer promises. Despite the weak script, Taylor-Johnson shines. His physicality and commitment to the role inject energy into an otherwise lackluster film, especially during the action sequences. The R rating allows for some visceral, gory moments that suit Kraven’s savage nature, and these scenes are easily the film’s highlight. Crowe also brings strength to his role as Nikolai, but his talents feel wasted on a character as one-dimensional as the script renders him. Unfortunately, the supporting cast doesn’t fare as well. Ariana DeBose’s performance is particularly underwhelming, with her scenes often dragging down the film’s momentum. Her portrayal feels out of sync with the movie’s tone, and her character lacks the complexity needed to leave a lasting impression. The visual effects are hit or miss, with some poorly rendered CGI animals breaking the immersion. It’s disappointing, especially in a movie centered on a master hunter. While there are moments of brutal fun, the overall visual presentation leaves much to be desired. Perhaps the most glaring issue is Sony’s continued reluctance to directly tie these spin-off films into the broader Spider-Man universe. The absence of Spider-Man—or even a meaningful connection to him—makes Kraven the Hunter feel isolated and detached. Including subtle nods or cameos would have added depth and legitimacy to the storyline, reminding audiences that these characters exist in a shared world. Ultimately, Kraven is a mixed bag. It has flashes of excitement, mostly thanks to Taylor-Johnson’s dynamic performance and the film’s commitment to bloody action, but it never rises above being a mindless popcorn flick. For those intrigued by the trailer, what you see is exactly what you get—no more, no less. If you’re hoping for something with depth or a compelling Spider-Man connection, you’ll leave disappointed. #jackmeatsflix

This speaks to the utter delusion and short-sightedness of today's feminist. The movie depicts boys who defy their father, a man of masculine character and virtue. The narrative is to "never be a man like your father," even though there is nothing inherently wrong with the father's values, other than their unambiguous masculinity. But do you think the modern feminist will see the context? Well, that's a defining trait of women; they can't see perspective nor context. They see only what's in front of them and in only two dimensions. To a woman, this is only a movie that promotes masculinity and that is all it is. Her eyes fail to see nuance. Given this logic, it's a mystery to me why men make such strives not to upset the feminist cabal, when the cabal will only see what they want to see anyway. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. So make the movie you want to make. It'll piss off a feminist either way. I enjoyed this film. It's not Marvel's best, but it's pretty good. The chase scenes were top-notch. An action/superhero movie is seldom Oscar bait, but as these films go, it's very entertaining. Not that these useless, toxic feminist ogres would notice. 4.

Immune to fan feedback, blind to quality control, and so disconnected from any kind of shared universe that half the scenes don’t even feel like they belong in the same movie. It’s not just bad (and yeah, I mean really bad), it’s like the people behind it had no clue what today’s audiences actually enjoy—or even expect—from a film.

- Joepublic1. prosince 2025That was such a horrible movie, CGI was so bad, buffalo chasing down trucks, Kraven everywhere without a shirt on, so a lion gives him superstrength but getting more serum did nothing, It was just really bad. Will not ever watch that again!
