I remember watching this from home and having the crap scared out of me during that *SPOILER* one scene with the mom floating on the ceiling. Not only does it excel in its scariness, but has excellent acting, writing, everything.

Given the brutality of these experiences and how they are captured, Ari Aster either turned his personal experience into a screen story, imagined such grievous trauma in his mind, or combined both truth and fiction. Hereditary is very often a hard watch, but it always feels honest.

- tellum18. srpna 2025I did not enjoy this as much as other horror fans, for me it was very plodding and the ending I didn’t care for. But there is some very disturbing imagery that is burned in my brain, and relatable realistic terror as well as supernatural terror. For bigger fans of the genre this is still a good movie.
