- macaronz2. července 2026As someone unfamiliar with Shakespeare's original play, I found this modern day adaptation of Hamlet to be quite jarring. The film transposes the story into contemporary times, yet retains the original 17th-century dialogue. Nobody says 'my Lord' in today's world, so it felt really weird. The build up is pretty weak, and the characters don't have much depth or detail to them. Riz Ahmed’s acting was good, but he spends the whole movie in a kurta pajama, which didn't really give off 'royal family' vibes. It's obvious they used the actual old writing because you never hear people talk like that anymore. Plus, the rest of the English cast gave pretty poor performances.
