Život Grace se obrátí vzhůru nohama, když se ozve její stárnoucí otec Andy Goodrich s prosbou o pomoc. Ne snad, že by po ní nikdy nic nechtěl, nebo ji šokovalo, že ho druhá manželka a matka jejich devítiletých dvojčat opustila. Zarážející je, že svou dospělou dceru žádá, aby pohlídala o sedmadvacet let mladší nevlastní sourozence, které skoro nezná. Vlastně příliš nezná ani jeho, nikdy totiž nebyl zrovna otec roku. Oba se tak ocitají v úplně nové roli. Grace poznává tátu, kterého neměla, a Andy se poprvé v životě skutečně stává rodičem.
