- Kevin Ward7. července 2025Legendary prank that aired Halloween Night 1992 on BBC one, Ghostwatch is a pseudo-reality-horror film depicted as if it’s a broadcast news investigation into ghosts and paranormal activity. Starring actual BBC news broadcasters and on air personalities, the entire film feels completely authentic. As someone that employs a hack-y Kevin Bacon schtick on all my reviews, I absolutely love and respect the 100% commitment to the bit here. I can only imagine what it would have been like coming across this broadcast during it’s original airing. It’s not super scary, but there are moments where you can spot a figure in the videos that illicit that spine tingling response. Really well done and worth checking out. Would absolutely love for someone to be able to pull off something like this today. Unfortunately, no one watches live TV anymore.
- Desmond Dale24. ledna 2025Although it's a bit more grounded and targeted at news segments this movie undoubtedly laid the path for Interview With The Devil. It's basically a movie about a pseudo ghost news segment in which things get increasingly hairy and truly frightening. The production value is spot on accurate with how the segments looked in that era with the central camera dominant lighting and color saturation. It has a host, a supernatural enthusiast type, crowd participatiion, a skeptic and the set becomes part of the theatrics all of which Interview With the Devil seemed to have aped. The ending is just as cataclysmic but feels just a little more tasteful than the aforementioned film. But what makes it even more interesting is how it feels more realistic than many of the ghost reality-TV shows that would later emerge in the early aughts.
