Režie: Robert ZemeckisKapitán Whip Whitaker je velezkušený pilot, kterému sebeprudší turbulence ani nestojí za zvýšení hlasu či adrenalinu v krvi. Když během rutinního letu jím pilotované dopravní letadlo vlétne do mohutné bouře, chladnokrevně ho vyvede do bezpečí, za což si vyslouží potlesk 96 cestujících a šesti členů posádky. Radost je předčasná, letadlu postupně začnou vynechávat funkce, je čím dál neovladatelnější a Whip se odhodlá k šílenému činu – otočí ho vzhůru nohama, což ho má déle udržet ve vzduchu a mezitím se pokusí najít co nejvhodnější místo k přistání. Před rovným pásem louky ho znovu otočí a ve dvousetkilometrové rychlosti sedne na zem. Jako zázrakem přežije 96 lidí. Když se Whip posléze probudí v nemocnici, dozví se, že se stal národním hrdinou. Adorace ale trvá jen do chvíle, než padne klíčová otázka: Co dělal kapitán před osudným letem? V tu chvíli pro něj začíná nový boj. Boj, který nakonec bude těžší než ten, který svedl se živly a neovladatelným letadlem.

Denzel Washington has played many leads with deep, complex flaws, but none quite as torn apart as Whip. He saves almost everyone on board with an impossible crash landing, yet he’s also drunk, high, and lying to himself and everyone else. The film refuses to let you sit comfortably on either side of that moral line. Washington carries all of Whip’s guilt, charm, denial, and raw fear in every scene, making his slow unraveling difficult to watch but impossible to look away from. The spectacular, terrifying plane sequence hooks you early, but it’s the aftermath—the investigations, relationships, and self-destruction—that truly defines the movie. Flight becomes less a disaster film and more a story about addiction, truth, and the painful cost of finally owning who you really are.
