They initially plan to flee all the way to Spain but end up stopping in the middle of a forest, where they discover a completely abandoned building and decide to settle there. Their extended stay initially seems to breed only trouble and danger, creating tensions that threaten everyone's safety. Over time, however, each of them engages in introspection and examines their past—most have difficult family relationships and resulting traumas that have scarred their psyches—allowing them to better understand the group and stay united. Their primary goal was to escape as far away as possible, yet it is precisely through this process of self-reflection that they eventually open a restaurant. The unfolding events never lose their momentum and successfully captivate the viewer, shifting seamlessly between psychological drama, comedy, and gritty gangster movie without ever feeling inconsistent. This is the film's true strength. Another major highlight is the ensemble performance of the four leads; Mads Mikkelsen stands out, perfectly embodying the unruly Arne, though without overshadowing Ulrich Thomsen, Søren Pilmark, and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. It is a genuine, offbeat gem of European cinema that presents an original, action-packed story, blending various genres without ever becoming muddled or taking itself too seriously. This film is so rare that a dubbed version is impossible to find; it is available only in the original language with subtitles. Then again, perhaps that is actually better for fully appreciating the performances and the spontaneity of the dialogue...
