- Jacob22. února 2026Probably the weakest Ernest movie in the franchise, but it’s still pretty funny. I’ll get this out of the way and say that it has one of the hardest openings of all time. Ernest movies have such good music (Man Named Worrell, Brave Hearts, Don’t Make Me Climb), but they’ve never gotten official releases, which sucks. Anyways, after the opening credits, the quality of Rides Again begins to take a nose-dive as it decides to rip off the electricity gimmick from Ernest Goes to Jail, but with a noticeably cheaper budget. It’s worth mentioning that this was the first Ernest movie to be produced outside of Touchstone Pictures, which could explain a lot of the issues that Rides Again has. After Ernest manages to outrun a power-saw that wants to murder him, he discovers this movie’s plot device and shows it to a history professor, Dr. Abner Melon, who becomes the second main character. Together, they embark on a journey to uncover the missing Crown Jewels of England. While their relationship isn’t bad, I can’t help but feel that Ernest uncharacteristically acts like a prick towards Abner for no reason. Surprisingly, Ernest becomes somewhat flanderized and even a little mean-spirited in this movie, which is sad to watch. It’s like he lost his heart and soul, but still does “Ernest” things. And if you’re still not convinced that this movie is bad, they recasted Chuck and Bobby so the audience would know that God has abandoned us. 1.8/5.0
