Režie: James CameronPříběh se odehrává v budoucnosti na planetě Pandora, kde lidé ze Země objeví vzácnou horninu unobtanium a rozhodnou se ji vytěžit. V cestě jim však stojí místní domorodci Na’vi. Aby pozemšťané získali jejich důvěru, vytvoří umělé tvory „avatary“, kteří vzhledem odpovídají obyvatelům planety, ale je do nich přenášeno lidské vědomí. Hlavní hrdina, ochrnutý mariňák Jake, se tak v zapůjčené podobě dostává k místnímu kmeni Omaticaya. Brzy prohlédne zpupné chování lidí, pozná kouzlo života v symbióze s přírodou a zamiluje se do dcery náčelníka Neytiri. V rozhodujícím boji o budoucnost planety se proto postaví na stranu Na’vi.

- Cubane10. března 2026As a majority shareholder in RDA, I was disappointed in the project manager's lack of vision in properly motivating the locals to accept the synergistic solution that grinding their home into paste presented. We get shareholder value, and you get fed into a woodchipper. What's so difficult to understand here?

- Muhammad Salman16. února 2026I know the Avatar franchise is known for its exceptional use of CGI and VFX, but even then, I wasn’t expecting the first movie to look THAT good. The entire film is beautifully shot, and the effects have aged extremely well. I especially loved the night scenes in the forest, they were jaw dropping in HDR. But I honestly didn’t care that much for the characters, cast, or plot. The only other movie I’ve watched with Sam Worthington is Clash of the Titans, and he feels very wooden in both. Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri acted better than Sam Worthington as Jake Sully in his human form. Stephen Lang plays a bit of an over-the-top, cheesy villain, but he’s easily the most entertaining character here. But yeah, this is very much “spectacle and visuals over plot and characters,” and I enjoyed it for what it is. Lowkey I could give this a 10 for technical achievements alone.

- Zokkiie31. ledna 2026Still looks amazing — Pandora is gorgeous and the world-building pulls you in fast. The action and score do their job, and it’s easy to see why it became such a phenomenon. But yeah, the story is familiar. Apparently every culture needs a skinny (them legs) white boy to save them. Some dialogue is clunky, characters are basic, and the plot is very by-the-numbers. First time I saw it in the cinema in 3D it was a 5/5, but that was the visuals making you forget the flaws. Without that wow factor, they’re harder to ignore — still, it’s an impressive, enjoyable sci-fi ride.

- Abba20. ledna 2026It’s got some cliche characters, but it’s a good story and told really well. The real magic is 3D effects a beauty of the environment. If you don’t watch this in 3D, you miss have the immersion the movie is meant to create.

- ርልዪረ26. ledna 2025Have, despite having bought both the original release on Blu-ray plus 3D, and indeed the extended version, always, since its development wanted the 2009 Avatar on the 4k format. Strangely because of the delays in releasing The Way of Water, I haven't watched this one for several years as I wanted, though delayed, wished to watch the two on 4k back-to-back over a couple of evenings, at last I am able to. Often felt this the first in the series to be the best visual movie ever made, and have wondered how near visual perfection could possibly get even better even on the 4k format, truth is, both Blu-ray and 4k are an incredible watch, the constant special-effects simply stunning. The film tells of how former-marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) now disabled replaces his twin brother who had died on the Avatar programme on the moon Pandora. Mankind (The Sky People) are, without regard for the inhabitants of the planet, mining for the valuable mineral unobtanium, destroying the habitat of the Na'vi (the tree people) Jake's task will be in infiltrate and gain trust of the tribe to benefit the mining company. Jake's first encounter with the tribe will be with Zoe Saldana as Neytiri daughter of the Omaticaya clan's leaders. Neytiri will take Jake to meet her people and will be instructed to teach him of their culture and beliefs. Jake initially remains loyal to the mining company and its military leader /security Colonel Miles Quaritch, (Stephen Lang) bur, eventually grows to love Neytiri and her people and indeed their way of life However, the ruthless Colonel believing he can win, in effect makes war on Omaticaya clan. Jake has to decide where his loyalty lies. Also starring Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, an exobiologist and head of the Avatar Program. And yes, I am watching both Avatar movies over the weekend. This, the first, is in my opinion the better of the two, though both visually stunning movies are in my view 'A MUST WATCH'
