Příliš bujná fantazie dvanáctileté "budoucí spisovatelky" Briony Tallisové odstartuje tragický příběh, který změní osudy tří lidí. Vinou vlastní nezralosti a nedorozumění nařkne mladého zahradníka Robbieho Turnera ze znásilnění nezletilé sestřenice. Nadaný chlapec, který původně mířil na lékařskou fakultu, končí ve vězení. Toto obvinění ale ničí život i její sestře Cecilii, která Robbieho bezhlavě milovala. Když si záhy už o něco starší Briony uvědomí, co napáchala, je už pozdě. Cecilia zavrhla celou rodinu v čele s ní a odstěhovala se do Londýna, kde se živí jako zdravotní sestra. Robbie výměnou za zkrácení trestu narukoval do armády. Briony na cestě za vykoupením nastoupí do ošetřovatelského kursu a konečně dospívá. S tím souvisí i rozhodnutí postavit se svým dvěma obětem tváří v tvář a respektovat trest. Možná se tím očistí, možná to ale na vykoupení nebude stačit. Možná to ani nestihne, protože Londýn se připravuje na masivní bombardování. Možná všechny tři čeká úplně jiný konec.

- SkyShazad15. července 2025So I watched this for the first time after seeing it pop up here and there by people saying is an amazing film... I LOVED IT.. Amazing Cast. I like how they in the film show the same scene from different point of views..... It's kinda heartbreaking film, some people have wrote it's about Redemption, i didn't see any redemption only Guilt, that's all Ill say without giving any spoilers for those who havnet seen it.... Awesome film, extremely well excused
