Bioložka se přihlásí k nebezpečné tajné expedici do tajemné zóny, na kterou se přírodní zákony nevztahují. Na Zemi blízko majáku cosi dopadne z vesmíru. Za nějakou dobu to začne budovat svůj ekosystém, který se neustále pomalu rozrůstá a pohlcuje své okolí. Do tajemného prostředí byly vyslány výpravy, ale žádná z nich se nevrátila. Až doposud. Manžel bioložky, který je od návratu na izolaci, si není schopný na nic vzpomenout. Tak vzniká nová výprava složená pouze z žen, která by měla definitivně odpovědět na otázku, co se tam uvnitř vlastně děje. Na výpravu se vydá i bioložka, aby nalezla odpovědi, co se stalo s jejím manželem. Jak výprava pokračuje, tak se zdá, že zdárně objevuje jednotlivé zákonitosti systému, ale největší překvapení na výpravu čeká tam, kde to celé začalo, tedy u majáku.

- Robot Monster28. prosince 2025I love a sci-fi/horror film that leaves me thinking. Annihilation does this along with some excellent visual and audio effects without it being a soup of CGI. The ending forces you to think it out as well and makes it a solid choice for a second watch. The cast is strong and there is very convincing tension befitting the crisis being portrayed. And unlike so many crap films that pander to audiences simply because the leads are female, here is a genuinely interesting and creative sci-fi film that happens to have a very strong female cast.

- Ahmed Siddiqui14. října 2025A great movie that has hidden depths that won't be easily understandable at first blush. Because of this, it's not a movie that will be liked by everyone. If you're the movie watcher who likes to sink their teeth into a piece of media and likes to understand the deep metaphorical meaning behind things you may have missed while watching the movie for the first time, you'll find a rewarding story about topics like dealing with trauma and how relationships can evolve. If you're not that type of person who wants to do the work to understand a movie, and like your message to be more neatly presented to you, then you'll find this movie to be, on the surface, a slight letdown.

And by the way that scene with the zombie monster (a bear, I think) is stolen from an old Dungeons and Dragons "choose your adventure" book. That alone pisses me off. Anyway this flick is definitely not for me.
- Rowan Krzysiak11. května 2025A film with some intriguing ideas that are played out in a non-patronising in way. There's some great visuals and the performances are mostly top-notch. It's clever enough and it's stupid enough but ultimately I'd say it's more than good enough for your time.
