The Cat with a Hat moves into an empty house in Stackeln an der Kruke. At first the grumpy owner, Direktor Maulwisch, is happy to habe found someone to rent his old childhood home. But frustrations soon arise, as the Cat takes in all sorts of strange and lonely animals rather than pay the rent.
