Criminal Happy King returns to Metropolis, determined to rid himself of Superman. He has hired a European scientist, who has found a way to manufacture synthetic Kryponite from a fragment of the substance. In their first test, Superman feels a sting from a bullet with a small fragment of Kryponite. Now, the scientist has made a bar made of Kryponite and Happy King sets a trap.
