- RazorbitzFebruary 22, 2025A documentary I've always wanted to watch after reading about it in Nintendo Power over 20 years ago. What a story! I finally got around to watching it after that dirty cheater Billy Mitchell finally got caught out for cheating recently and the documentary delivered a genuine icon of documentary filmmaking. The drama between all these sweaty nerdtastic weirdos defending the cromagnon jock cheater up to and through the genuine talent of just a regular dude was something to witness. It cannot be understated the lengths those conspiratorial losers went to discredit Steve, but the documentary captures it all in splendid fashion. Over twenty years later and Steve has only been vindicated more and more as time has gone on, and I hope he and his family are doing well. What a legend, and one that serves as a great timecapsule of the era.
- CoffeeJesus666September 6, 2025One of my favorite documentaries of all time. Billy Mitchell plays the WWE like villain so well and the editing is done perfectly. If you actually follow the timeline not much here is "real" per say but never let the facts get in the way of a good story. From all accounts Billy is actually a really nice guy in real life. Ex: that tape scene "you can lose your luggage but do not lose this tape" . Billy was actually giving them a tape of WWE SummerSlam from that year so they could watch it at the get together. Steve Weibe played the "get who can't get a break" so well. His wife clearly wishes she was with ANYONE else other than "the basketball" or "the Donkey Kong Guy"... Even his kids put him down about the Guinness book of world records "some people ruin their life to get in that book". You know those kids are just echoing moms words... But... Wow... I couldn't get behind anyone who doesn't stand up for themselves a little bit. I am sure he is also a really good guy in real life but he was portrayed terribly. Walter Day is absolutely hilarious in this movie. Truly this is a must watch for any fans of classic gaming, pro wrestling and... Well Funspot as it is all over this film. Might as well be a giant commercial.
- GnomeSliceJuly 18, 2025Points for coverage on such a geeky story, but the documentary itself is just okay. Lots of dweeb drama.
