To reach it, he teams up with Zoulika—formerly Louise—an endearing, unpredictable firebrand freshly out of civic reintegration camp. Their cover: joining forces with Ryan, a 52-year-old conservative, visually impaired late bloomer determined to run the legendary Marathon des Sables. Noah wants his father’s gold, Zoulika wants to slip across the border, and Ryan wants to fulfill a childhood dream. Off they go, heading straight into the Sahel.
