Guadalupe is an orphan girl taken in since her childhood by Eulalio and Eufrasia, who incite her to rob and to commit crimes. She opposes and, to avoid it, decides to leave the house in the company of a goldfinch and her inseparable cat. The girl tries to live independently, but failures are accumulating, until she accidentally meets Nena, a young lady of good family, and among them comes a sincere friendship.
