Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Ratings & Reviews
- Tiago NazarethApril 13, 2025After Val Kilmer’s recent passing, I decided to revisit some of this great actor previous roles and started off with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He was fantastic in this film with his dry wit and humour, adding some hilarious scenes playing as a gay detective. It had been years since I last watched this movie and forgot what a truly entertaining film this was. My kind of dark comedy. It was well written, with tons of funny scenes, fast paced and action-packed. I simply loved the sarcasm and humorous one-liners used throughout the movie. Overall this was a quirky, very amusing film, with a superb cast who clicks together perfectly. Given its shortish run time of 99 minutes, you simply can’t afford to miss it. I don’t want to go to much into the story but I strongly recommend this movie, given the talent of Downey and Kilmer and the great chemistry between them. Worth seeing just for Val Kilmer’s Gay Perry!
- John HeavnerSeptember 8, 2025A funny movie that I enjoy without much care in The Who-done-it mystery element. Many great microscopic performances by these actors. Love this romantic-action-comedy. My friend fell asleep though.

- jackmeatAugust 22, 2025My quick rating - 7.2/10. This one showed up under "Tis the Season" from Plex, so since I don't recall seeing this one, I may as well check it out. Then again, as big a fan of Val Kilmer as I am, I somehow doubt I missed it. The answer was, I definitely did miss this excellent mystery flick. The acting by both heavy hitters is spot on and extremely fun. Their timing for the jokes is perfect and keeps the tone light in the midst of a murder plot. Robert Downey Jr. plays a small-time thief who gets mistaken for an actor and is paired up with a detective (Kilmer) for a movie role. But when this turns into a real-life crime, they have to work with each other to help save Michelle Monaghan from being killed. Each role for the time was a departure from their norms, well, maybe not so much Kilmer, but RDJ definitely. The whole thing was very inventive and just played out to a tee. I have to assume this one didn't quite reach the overall audience it could have due to the language. There is quite a bit of F-bombs lobbed around, pulling this into R-rated territory when really nothing else did. The style of presenting the story from RDJ playing both the narrator and main character was also a nice touch. Especially how it lends itself to a very amusing wrap-up. There is little doubt that these two had a blast making this movie, and it is too bad they couldn't have taken another stab at it since the door could've been open for a sequel. Still a great flick that has made my collection and doesn't need to be saved for Xmas viewing, just because the story just so happens to be around the holiday.
- mickerdooJuly 7, 2025RDJ is so good at smoking cigarettes and getting his ass kicked. Val Kilmer's smart guy was fun. And oh my goodness, Michelle Monaghan.
- Mister ArnMay 17, 2025"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" is an enjoyable film with solid acting and a well-told story.
