“Jailhouse Rock” features Elvis Presley in his second starring role, and while his acting is still raw, that quality suits the character. He plays an ex-con who rises to fame as a singer, carried by his natural charisma. The “Jailhouse Rock” number remains iconic, not just an Elvis highlight, but a landmark in rock ’n’ roll cinema, choreographed with an energy that still feels fresh. Elvis’s presence, the music, and that sequence make the film memorable, even if the acting and storytelling stumble at times.
