Where to Watch Hereditary
Hereditary Ratings & Reviews
- Allie TranMay 30, 2025This is what I would consider a perfect horror movie. I remember watching this from home and having the crap scared out of me during that *SPOILER* one scene with the mom floating on the ceiling. Not only does it excel in its scariness, but has excellent acting, writing, everything.
- TanalienNovember 2, 2024Hereditary is a family drama disguised as a horror film. Given the brutality of these experiences and how they are captured, Ari Aster either turned his personal experience into a screen story, imagined such grievous trauma in his mind, or combined both truth and fiction. Hereditary is very often a hard watch, but it always feels honest.

- CovetteNovember 6, 2025I flip flopped through the whole movie not knowing how it would land. It is overly lengthy but it’s worth a watch for horror fans. The second half of the movie was enjoyable from some tense scenes and watching the story unfold.
- Evan MayJuly 30, 2025Harrowing. The true terrors are in the first half. The second half tells a story to make sense of them. If only generational demons were so simple. The explanation is inexplicable. The result is multitonal, a partly comical fever dream dressed in visual discomfort. Yet the dread lingers past the runtime. Every scene holds attention. But the real artists were Steve Newburn and his team creating all those miniatures.
- P. LoganJanuary 27, 2025No horror movie has better instilled that feeling of impending dread than Hereditary.
- justi7607November 2, 2025Definitely one of the best Modern Horror movies...
- pipanniOctober 24, 2025The movie does have some very creepy scenes and all the actors are excellent, but I found the story to be unfocused and a bit confusing. Plus it's more of a drama than a horror movie. I mean, everything that's happening is indeed horrible, but more sad than scary. Three stars for the amazing acting, otherwise I would have rated it lower.
- CoougeSeptember 24, 2025Good horror movie. Nothing funny about it, just scary and creepy.
- MrTrivetSeptember 22, 2025Hereditary is, for me, an absolute masterpiece - a perfect balance between paranormal horror and a heavy, family drama. An unpredictable scare is a true rarity. Some scenes, and especially that one - you know the one – make your stomach drop, your heart stop, and it’s hard to believe what’s happening on screen. The film is incredibly unsettling, full of allegories and high emotional stakes. The finale was so absurd that it left me in maniacal laughter. The characters navigate increasingly twisted experiences, and the film offers a horror-infused perspective on the stages of grief - what would normally distort our perception of reality here finds full justification in what unfolds on screen. This is one of those films that stays with you for a long time, showing just how powerful horror can be when it intersects with human tragedy. Toni Collette is simply brilliant, and I believe this film will ensure her place in the annals of horror cinema.
- tellumAugust 18, 2025I did not enjoy this as much as other horror fans, for me it was very plodding and the ending I didn’t care for. But there is some very disturbing imagery that is burned in my brain, and relatable realistic terror as well as supernatural terror. For bigger fans of the genre this is still a good movie.
- StairwaytothestarsAugust 21, 2025TERRORIFIC! Great atmosphere and acting with the amazing Toni Collette. After seeing the ending, I may need therapy!
- Halim MellickJune 27, 2025Ari Aster has to be one of my favourite modern directors. I consider him to be a modern day Kubrick. Stunning visual storytelling with setups and payoffs that really require a re-viewing to appreciate. The acting is fantastic, particularly Toni Colette’s performance. Ari uses horror to deal with the struggles of a dysfunctional family dynamic which is something I think we all can relate to.
- Andy Davidson | folknhell.comAugust 18, 2025A devastating family tragedy slowly unravels into pure, ancient terror.
