Epic Movie Ratings & Reviews
- KGM SOSASeptember 4, 2025I’ll admit it up front: my 10/10 rating for Epic Movie is heavily biased. I loved this movie as a kid (I must’ve watched it 100s of times) & rewatching it now as an adult, nostalgia plays a big part in why I still enjoy it so much. That said, I genuinely think this film is WAY better than its reputation suggests. Everyone acknowledges Scary Movie as the gold standard of early 2000s spoofs, & I agree it deserves its cultural status. But right behind it, I’d argue Epic Movie holds up as the next best parody of that era. By contrast, Disaster Movie was a total mess: lazy & forced. Epic Movie, on the other hand, flows surprisingly well. It follows a clear storyline, the spoofs feel purposeful rather than jammed in & the whole thing has a rhythm that keeps it fun from start to finish. For a raunchy parody film, this is exactly what it should be: silly, crude, over the top, but still entertaining & coherent. I was honestly shocked to see how low it’s rated on IMDb because, for what it sets out to be, it does its job really well. So yes, my 10/10 is shamelessly nostalgic & biased, but I stand by it. Epic Movie is fantastic fun & I’ll always defend it as one of the better spoofs of its time.
