The Hushed Music

Directed by Fernando Boto
2012    62m
Diego and David spend their days in the monastery they have themselves built, and are still building, in a dry and afar rural landscape in the province of Buenos Aires. The only catholic Byzantine monks in South America, observers of the tradition of the first Christianity, they have established and harmonic communion with nature. David paints icons with pigments he extracts from the soil of the mountains, while Diego translates Christian texts from Russian and Greek into Spanish. At every moment the sky frames they with its light in hypnotic chiaroscuros. To pray or to make bread, to chop wood or to work the land can be acts united by the same rhythm, the same breath.
