Sophie, Princess of Bavaria, is the youngest daughter of Duchess Ludovika and Duke Max of Bavaria. Her parents are looking for a good match for her and believe they have found one in the King of Portugal. But then King Ludwig II of Bavaria announces his engagement to Sophie, with whom he shares a deep friendship. The historical television two-parter tells the story of Sophie's love and suffering.
