Directed by Dennis SatinHamburg cello teacher Elisa Gehlen has been looking forward to a luxurious Caribbean vacation with her husband Ludwig for weeks. The two want to celebrate their upcoming silver wedding under the tropical sun. But then the archaeologist Ludwig literally canceled the trip at the last minute because of an important research assignment. Although Elisa has been used to such changes of plan for a long time, this time she wants to take the consequences: Instead of carrying Ludwig's files to the office as usual, she decides to pursue her long-neglected musical career more intensively from now on. But on the same day, Elisa experienced another surprise: without telling her in advance, Ludwig invited his Italian colleague Carlo Dalcura to live with him temporarily. The two men compete in the prestigious archaeological project exploring the battle between Romans and Germans in the Teutoburg Forest. At first, Elisa is anything but happy about the unexpected house guest. Very quickly, however, she takes a liking to the charming nature of the handsome Italian, who courts her and is interested in her music in a way that her husband has not been for years. And although the jealous Ludwig is aware of the danger, the work is still more important to him. When he again transfers his wife to a planned "reconciliation" concert visit, he finally paves the way for the budding love between Elisa and Carlo. The two begin a romantic affair, and in her love frenzy Elisa even allows herself to be persuaded to leave her husband and their adult son Jakob in order to move to Florence with Carlo. Ludwig's financier, Lydia Pöniken, who is as attractive as she is influential, uses the opportunity to ensnare the renowned archaeologist. Elisa, who finds out in the unfamiliar surroundings that habit means not only boredom but also familiarity, returns home remorsefully. When she searches for Ludwig at his excavation site in vain and accidentally makes a crucial find, events take a turn for the worse. But this time Ludwig - when asked what is more important to him: job or wife - seems to have made the right decision.
