A young pioneer is crying as he sits near the obelisk to the First Artificial Satellite. This event triggers an alarm that is received by the children's magazine editor. It turns out that in the future, crying is forgotten by people as an unnecessary sad emotion and is perceived as an "unheard of incident" on Earth. To sort this out, the editor decides to contact his special correspondent Murzilka, who is on a mission in space.
