Lyons was also arrested in New York City at the Gaslight Cafe for his unique vocal style and acquitted with "the right to expand the boundaries of poetry." A predecessor to hip hop, contemporary to Jack Kerouac, Bob Dylan and Cecil Taylor -- Lyons' multi-layered talents extended to the Actor's Studio in NYC (in the 1960's) alongside Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, and Timothy Carey where he wrote plays.
