"In this retro comedy, university biology student Renan, despite being madly in love with his girlfriend Taís, still desires other women. His friend Moita, an impetuous bachelor, has the theory that people should live two parallel lives: a single life, where Renan could meet and hook up with all the cool girls in the world; and a conjugal life, in which he could enjoy all the great moments of a long-term relationship with a partner. His friend Max, on the other hand, is fully committed to his monogamous relationship, and finds infidelity abhorrent. Little does Renan know that his handsome professor Jorjão will introduce him to the solution to his dilemma: human cloning. Drawing inspiration from the 1980s and 1990s and adopting a VHS home video aesthetic, Boyfriend Double is a charming fusion of romantic comedy and science fiction, laced with satire and metalanguage."
