Celling Your Soul takes a unique approach to the contemporary issue of digital dependency by listening to those who were the first to be socialized in the digital landscape. How do the Millennials really feel about the world of 24/7 connectivity and what can we learn from them? You might be surprised to learn, they 'hate it!' In one short decade we've totally changed the way we communicate with one another. But, have we stopped to ask, how are those changes, changing us? Media and Communication Professor Joni Siani was on the front line of the digital revolution. She explains that when these changes started 'my classes turned into two hours Facebook and texting therapy!' Siani started to change the conversation from what do you think to 'how do you feel?' Siani was shocked to learn of the depth of anxiety, stress, addiction and mental health issues associated with the demands of 24/7 connectivity. Together, she and her students challenged the new norms and found an empowering solution. Celling Your Soul is not 'anti technology, it's pro human' and reminds us of the importance of authentic human connectivity. These students, who learned the power of empathy and the real meaning of intimacy, are now passionate about paying it forward.
