This is the story of a ordinary man, 1st generation Aussie of German descent who was killed in France in 1918 by a high velocity shell at Allonville. (The largest number of casualties from one single shell bust in the history of the A.I.F. Bertie was a pianist, trumpet player and bugler. This short film was produced by Bertie's Great Nephew Greg Englert, himself a professional trumpet player, bugler and composer. A story with so many other stories happening in such a short time, from sinking ships to mate ship and the grim reality of war.
