The USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier, going from Japan to the US, rescued them, after 49 days at sea. The Russian sailors were on a coastal barge, which drifted away in a storm. They were given up for dead. However, the American ship saw them and set a helicopter, and the Russians were taken on board.
