...It Is Nice to Be Privileged

Directed by Matheo Yamalakis
About a successful, middle-aged businessman named Jesus. He casually talks about his carefree life. Next the film summarily depicts the Mexican revolution in the early 20th century -- a bloody showdown in which a quarter of the country's population had to die. To be followed by a carnival week in Vera Cruz, a party where the social divides are not so clearly noticeable. And then about a neighborhood in Mexico City, where a group of priests try to build up the political consciousness of the people in the fight against the landlords and landowners. Finally, the fight for the earth is told -- and with the earth, which is often very barren. Here, the director also shows the Indians' culture and difficult living conditions.
